Hi. I’m Des.

I am a wife to Brad of 31 years, mom to Olivia and Braeden, “Gigi” to Calum and Haven; and doodle dog mom to Nelson, Murray, and Poppy. I adore my family and spoil my three Goldendoodles rotten. 

 

My dedication to education and understanding led me to create Naturally Sublime. As my knowledge increased, I began making face, body, and home products free of the chemicals found in many products we use. Can we take chemicals and synthetic ingredients out of products we use for personal and home use and still have an effective product? Do environmental factors impact many of today’s health concerns?  Yes and yes!

I am challenged with food and environmental allergies. In 2022, I suffered an accident and was diagnosed with a very rare neurological disease that damaged my sympathetic nervous system. I need products that do not negatively impact the way I physically feel. I am not only the creator of Naturally Sublime but also a customer.

​

In July 2023, I suffered a spiral break in my left hand that required surgery. The trauma from the break/surgery triggered a very rare and painful neurological disorder called CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) and POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). My left hand is paralyzed, and my equilibrium has been severely affected. At the age of 50, I am unable to drive; I wear a brace to protect my hand and walk with a cane to maintain my balance, which has been emotionally difficult, to say the least. I have a team of physicians and therapists doing their best to treat my myriad of symptoms, but there is no cure. 

 

In March 2024, this disease spread internally and affected my digestive system and ability to eat. I have had more tests, bloodwork, loss of weight, and a raw throat making it hard to swallow; therefore, I was admitted to the hospital to undergo surgery to receive a feeding tube. Life can be challenging at times. There have been moments when I feel like much of what made life beautiful is gone. But then I am reminded that the Lord has given me the opportunity to create a new kind of beautiful…and for that, I am forever grateful.

The emotional support from family, friends, and even strangers, has been beyond what my family could imagine. It has been difficult to allow others to serve us when we have always been the ones who served others. I have laid this down at the feet of my Savior and continue to humbly receive the overwhelming love from others quietly.

​

Only God knew that two years later, this business that started as a hobby with a desire to create chemical-free products would help me chip away at the tremendous financial cost of this disease. You can only imagine the financial stress this has brought our family. The medical bills are extremely overwhelming.
